Mqabba's fireworks team, known as Santa Marija Fireworks Factory, has won the Malta International Fireworks Festival multiple times and set a national record for the largest single aerial shell ever launched in Malta. The factory produces shells year-round in underground bunkers — a tradition passed from father to son for generations. The village's quarry stone was used to build many of Malta's churches and palaces.
