Historic hilltop olive town
One of Malta's largest inland towns with Phoenician roots — olive-oil heritage, a gold-filled tomb discovery, and affordable hilltop living.
In 1881, a Phoenician tomb was discovered in Zebbug's town centre containing gold jewellery, scarabs, and pottery dating to 700 BC — one of the most important archaeological finds in Maltese history. The gold objects are now in the National Museum of Archaeology in Valletta. Zebbug residents were traditionally known as 'Zebbugin' and the town was granted the title Citta' de Rohan by the Knights in 1776.
