Expansive northern coastal community

Malta's largest northern coastal town — a mix of fishing heritage, tourist resorts, and year-round residential living at accessible prices.

Walkability
Good along the coast promenade. Inland areas require a car. Flat terrain on the coast, hilly inland.
Parking
Moderate. Better than central Malta. Seafront fills in summer. Residential areas have reasonable parking.
Noise
Moderate. Busy in summer with tourists. Quieter in winter. Bugibba square is the noisiest area.
Transport
Good. Direct buses to Valletta (30–40 min), Mellieha, and Gozo ferry. Frequent summer service.

The Bible's Acts of the Apostles records that St. Paul was shipwrecked on Malta after a storm drove his ship aground. Local tradition holds that the wreck occurred in St. Paul's Bay, and a statue of the apostle stands on a tiny island at the harbour entrance. Every February 10th, the town celebrates the shipwreck anniversary with a procession of decorated boats.
