Remote plateau village beside dramatic coastal landmarks

Gozo's western gateway to Dwejra Bay — a tiny, tranquil plateau village where the Kempinski SDA residences sit beside dramatic coastal cliffs and world-class diving.

Walkability
Limited. Dwejra is a 20-minute walk. Victoria is 30+ minutes on foot. Car essential for daily life.
Parking
Excellent. No parking issues. Plenty of space around the village square.
Noise
Extremely low. One of the quietest inhabited places in the Maltese islands.
Transport
Poor. Infrequent buses. Car or bike strongly recommended.

Fungus Rock, visible from Dwejra, was so valuable to the Knights of St. John that they posted a permanent guard to protect a rare medicinal fungus that grew on it. The fungus was believed to cure dysentery and was so prized that anyone caught stealing it faced imprisonment or worse. The rock is now a nature reserve, and the fungus is still studied by botanists.
