Sannat Gozo

Cliff-top village with artisan heritage

A cliff-edge village on Gozo's south coast — dramatic coastal plateaux, traditional lacemaking, and exclusive cliff-top properties.

Walkability
Moderate. Village centre walkable. Cliff walks accessible. Beach access involves steep paths.
Parking
Good. Easy parking in the village. Ta' Cenc hotel has private parking.
Noise
Very low. Quiet village. Wind exposure on the plateau can be strong.
Transport
Poor. Infrequent buses to Victoria (8 min). Car recommended.

Mgarr ix-Xini inlet below Sannat's cliffs was used as a smuggling cove for centuries — its narrow entrance is invisible from the open sea. In 2014, underwater archaeologists discovered a Phoenician shipwreck at the mouth of the inlet at a depth of 110 metres, one of the deepest ancient wrecks ever found in the Mediterranean.
