Nadur Gozo

Hilltop village above Gozo's harbour

A hilltop village overlooking the Gozo ferry terminal — gateway to Gozo, home to the island's best beaches, and a unique masked festa tradition.

Walkability
Moderate. Village centre is walkable. Beaches are a short drive. Hilly terrain.
Parking
Good. Village streets have adequate parking. Beach areas fill in summer.
Noise
Low. Quiet hilltop village. Festa period is an exception — the masked celebrations draw crowds.
Transport
Moderate. Buses to Victoria (8 min) and Mgarr ferry. Seasonal beach routes.

Nadur's festa features masked revellers called 'Naduri' who dress in elaborate costumes and perform satirical skits lampooning local politicians, the church, and village gossip. The tradition is believed to originate from a 16th-century practice where villagers disguised themselves to mock the Knights of St. John without being identified. It's now a protected cultural event unique to Nadur.
