Traditional central town with landmark church
Central Maltese town famous for its monumental domed church — affordable family living with easy access to the whole island.
During WWII, a 500kg German bomb fell through the Rotunda's dome during a service with 300 people inside. It bounced off the wall and slid across the marble floor. It didn't explode. Two more bombs fell nearby — none detonated. The event is considered a miracle, and the bomb (defused) is displayed in the church sacristy to this day.
