Walkability
Moderate. The town is very hilly. Beach area is walkable but steep climb back to the town centre. A car is recommended.

Moderate. Buses to Valletta take 45–60 minutes. Direct routes to Cirkewwa, St. Paul's Bay, and Bugibba. Less frequent than central routes.
Mellieha was almost entirely abandoned after the Great Siege of 1565 and wasn't re-inhabited until the mid-1700s because of fears of pirate raids. The town's population explosion is relatively recent — it went from a village of 500 people in the 1930s to one of Malta's largest towns today, largely driven by tourism and British military families who settled after WWII.
